Lord of the Flies Response

Individuals are basically evil and must constantly fight against their violent nature

Image result for evil I disagree with this particular statement because I believe it is an overstatement of how evil people can be. Individuals are not born unconditionally evil or violent. The choices they decide and situations they are put in indicates the nature of their behavior. Some of the behaviors of individuals are not all evil or violent therefore I believe they do not have to constantly fight to stay civil.

Individuals will go along with any type of activity, no matter how violent, when pressured by their peers. In the kind of society we live in currently, I do agree. The glorification of being different nowadays is often correspondent to being different alone which people are scared of. The risk of being alone by being different is overpowered by just going along with what your peers want to do.
The human race is destined to destroy itself. I disagree because we have come a very long way in adapting to a more complex way of thinking. Currently people are rather more open-minded and less traditional about a variety of things so we can prevent such tragedy.
Rules and punishments are absolutely necessary if we are to maintain a civilized society. Yes I believe so because without order, our society might turn into chaos. If there are no rules people can do whatever they want and that freedom can be taken advantage of and abused. People like the idea of having the liberty to do what they want but there are restrictions and consequences towards that privilege to prevent danger.
We are our worst enemy. I agree because most conflicts usually occur between a person and another and if not resolved it can turn to be the worst. The saying "we are our worst critique" does hold some truth within each individual because everyone knows what they are capable of doing. It is just up to us to decide what to do.
